Different Sorting Techniques

Binary Search
This is a very important algorithm you can apply at many different problem environments you never expect.
Understand the runtime complexity for the Binary Search and understand how to derive the complexity from algorithm. Note that it can be applied for only sorted lists. Learn how to apply Binary Search in a Rotated Sorted List by using recursion and how the algorithm complexity varies. Implement Binary Search using C for a list of strings. You should familiarize the terms in place sorting, stable sorting and also should understand which sorts come into these categories.
Insertion Sort
Understand the algorithm and derivation of algorithm analysis. Compare it with Card game in which we move the cards to the suitable position. Keep the example in mind and apply to similar problems. In Insertion sort, we sort the element set by consequently moving the current element to the appropriate position in an already sorted set.
QuickSort
QuickSort is a very important sorting technique. It uses divide and conquer technique. Divide the given set of elements into smaller sets recursively and apply comparison and swap. When comparison and swap is performed to formulated smaller sets, it results in the larger sorted set. Learn algorithm analysis. Learn how to find kth smallest element by modifying the Quicksort algorithm in O(nk) complexity. Find out mean of a set of elements in O(n) by modifying the above problem.
MergeSort
Mergesort is also a divide and conquer sorting technique. The concept is to merge two sorted list to obtain larger sorted set. By dividing the given array into smaller subset by recursion, smaller subsets are formed. Merging the subsets from lower level to higher level, we obtain sorted array. Learn algorithm analysis. Note that merge sort takes an extra array. Hence this is not an in place sorting. It has O(n) space complexity. You should practice problems related to merge sort. Eg. You are given two sorted arrays with size n and 2n. The second array contain n elements in the positions 0 to n-1. Now without using extra space, formulate the elements in 1st and 2nd array into 2nd array and return a sorted array of size 2n.
HeapSort
Heapsort is an interesting sorting technique. Heap is a tree in which parent node is always >= child nodes (called as max-heap) or parent node is always <= child nodes (called as min-heap). This is the basic property for a heap. Let us have an overview of how to create a heap and manage it. When we need to add an element into an existing heap, we add the element as root or to the rightmost bottom element in the heap. Then apply heapify operation. Heapify operation can be of two types: shiftup and shift down. When we add a new element to an existing heap as root element, we perform shift down operation. Shift down operation performs a traversal from root level to bottom level, at each level of traversal, it compares whether heap property is violated, if so it will perform swap between parent node and child node to obey the heap property. Hence the element we added as root will move to the accurate position when the traversal reaches the bottom level. If we add a new element to the bottom right element, we need to perform a shift up to position the element to the right position. We traverse from parent in the bottom level to the root, by checking the heap property at each level and swapping elements to meet the heap property, we get a balanced heap when traversal reaches the top element.
Heapsort makes use of these operations to obtain a sorted set. Let us assume we have a heap (1,n). the root element will be the highest value (max-heap). Hence it will be the last element in the sorted list. We swap the root and the last element. Now the heap property is lost. But the nth position of array has the correct element in the sorted list. So we exclude nth element and heapify the heap(1,n-1) by using shift down operation. Because the root element is the one breaking the heap balance. After doing heapify 2nd time, we get 2nd highest element as root element. Now swap root element with n-1 element. Hence n-1, nth elements are 2nd largest and largest elements. Now exclude the n-1 and nth element, heapify heap(1,n-2). Follow the procedure until the newly formed heap size become one. You will get a sorted list. Read the chapter Heaps from Programming Pearls (It will give you a wonderful insight). Practice the problems: Find kth largest element from a given unsorted array. Implement priority queues.

Torrentz

TorrentzFriends how many of you are downloading software's from Internet....
Well almost every one of us are getting our content from Internet.
What if you loose your internet connection during the download???
:-( we loose the downloaded content and need to download it from beginning.
what if you can get almost all the software's for free and no broken download links???
It would be Amazing.
Torrentz is the site that contains the resources from all over the world for free of cost!

All you need to do is to install a client for that which is very very tiny (400kb approx) but with amazing performance.. That is µTorrent.

This torrentz is a free peer to peer transfer system.

when you visit torrentz.eu you need to type name of your desired software, book, movie, music or anything and you will get tonns of results.... But whoch one to select???

The one with high seeds and peers. How to findout that? is it a million$ Question? No.
when you get search results on the 3rd column you get seeds and on 4th column you get peers .

For eg when you search for vlc you get million results but i will select the one with 800 seeds and 21 peers....

because its the fastest one..

so you click that ok then arises the problem you will get providers in 10's like KAT, 1377X, vertor, pirate bay which to select???

i recommend you to select KAT or Pirate Bay or Minova or 1377X

when you click them they will redirect you to their site there you will see thousands of links but search for link with name TORRENT DONLOAD you are done....

Architecture & Functional dig.of 8085

Architecture & Functional dig.of 8085.

The functional block diagram or architechture of 8085 Microprocessor is very important as it gives the complete details about a Microprocessor. Fig. shows the Block diagram of a Microprocessor.

8085 Bus Structure:
Address Bus:
  • The address bus is a group of 16 lines generally identified as A0 to A15.
  • The address bus is unidirectional: bits flow in one direction-from the MPU to peripheral devices.
  • The MPU uses the address bus to perform the first function: identifying a peripheral or a memory location.
Data Bus:
  • The data bus is a group of eight lines used for data flow.
  • These lines are bi-directional - data flow in both directions between the MPU and memory and peripheral devices.
  • The MPU uses the data bus to perform the second function: transferring binary information.
  • The eight data lines enable the MPU to manipulate 8-bit data ranging from 00 to FF (28 = 256 numbers).
  • The largest number that can appear on the data bus is 11111111.
Control Bus:
  • The control bus carries synchronization signals and providing timing signals.
  • The MPU generates specific control signals for every operation it performs. These signals are used to identify a device type with which the MPU wants to communicate.
Registers of 8085:
The 8085 have six general-purpose registers to store 8-bit data during program execution.
  • These registers are identified as B, C, D, E, H, and L.
  • They can be combined as register pairs-BC, DE, and HL-to perform some 16-bit operations.
Accumulator (A):
  • The accumulator is an 8-bit register that is part of the arithmetic/logic unit (ALU).
  • This register is used to store 8-bit data and to perform arithmetic and logical operations.
  • The result of an operation is stored in the accumulator.
Flags:
  • The ALU includes five flip-flops that are set or reset according to the result of an operation.
  • The microprocessor uses the flags for testing the data conditions.
  • They are Zero (Z), Carry (CY), Sign (S), Parity (P), and Auxiliary Carry (AC) flags. The most commonly used flags are Sign, Zero, and Carry.
The bit position for the flags in flag register is,
1.Sign Flag (S):
After execution of any arithmetic and logical operation, if D7 of the result is 1, the sign flag is set. Otherwise it is reset.
D7 is reserved for indicating the sign; the remaining is the magnitude of number.
If D7 is 1, the number will be viewed as negative number. If D7 is 0, the number will be viewed as positive number.
2.Zero Flag (z):
If the result of arithmetic and logical operation is zero, then zero flag is set otherwise it is reset.
3.Auxiliary Carry Flag (AC):
If D3 generates any carry when doing any arithmetic and logical operation, this flag is set.
Otherwise it is reset.
4.Parity Flag (P):
If the result of arithmetic and logical operation contains even number of 1's then this flag will be set and if it is odd number of 1's it will be reset.
5.Carry Flag (CY):
If any arithmetic and logical operation result any carry then carry flag is set otherwise it is reset.
Arithmetic and Logic Unit (ALU):
  • It is used to perform the arithmetic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, increment and decrement and logical operations like AND, OR and EX-OR.
  • It receives the data from accumulator and registers.
  • According to the result it set or reset the flags.
Program Counter (PC):
This 16-bit register sequencing the execution of instructions.
  • It is a memory pointer. Memory locations have 16-bit addresses, and that is why this is a 16-bit register.
  • The function of the program counter is to point to the memory address of the next instruction to be executed.
  • When an opcode is being fetched, the program counter is incremented by one to point to the next memory location.
Stack Pointer (Sp):
  • The stack pointer is also a 16-bit register used as a memory pointer.
  • It points to a memory location in R/W memory, called the stack.
  • The beginning of the stack is defined by loading a 16-bit address in the stack pointer (register).
·  Temporary Register: It is used to hold the data during the arithmetic and logical operations.
·  · Instruction Register: When an instruction is fetched from the memory, it is loaded in the instruction register.
·  · Instruction Decoder: It gets the instruction from the instruction register and decodes the instruction. It identifies the instruction to be performed.
·  · Serial I/O Control: It has two control signals named SID and SOD for serial data transmission.
Timing and Control unit:
  • It has three control signals ALE, RD (Active low) and WR (Active low) and three status signals IO/M(Active low), S0 and S1.
  • ALE is used for provide control signal to synchronize the components of microprocessor and timing for instruction to perform the operation.
  • RD (Active low) and WR (Active low) are used to indicate whether the operation is reading the data from memory or writing the data into memory respectively.
  • IO/M(Active low) is used to indicate whether the operation is belongs to the memory or peripherals.
  • If,
·
Interrupt Control Unit:
It receives hardware interrupt signals and sends an acknowledgement for receiving the interrupt signal.

How to Install Back Track-4 on Windows PC

Friends today i am going to tell you how to operate different Operating Systems with out really Installing them with all those Head-ache procedures.
Firstly you need to download a latest version of VirtualBox.
You can get it from here.
Then install it like any other Windows applications.
To install a OS it must be available with you either in the form of a Live CD or an ISO image.
Then go with the following Steps:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once the installation completed successfully, start VirtualBox. No virtual machine is available, it is now to create one. Do not go running, it is very simple. Start your creation by clicking on "New".

Click "Next" and then you get a window that asks you to name your virtual machine and specify what type of system be installed on this virtual machine. So choose a name for your machine and then set the operating system "Linux" and as version "Linux 2.6".

We'll have to then determine the amount of RAM you allocate to the virtual machine. You shall be determined according to available resources on your computer and needs of your host OS. This parameter can be modified in the properties of virtual machine, if you do not properly assess the correct balance and train your machine, or your OS suffers, it will be possible to rectify later. I have 4GB of RAM in all, I decided to dedicate half of my virtual machine.

After clicking Next, it's about creating an image of hard disk to install your BT. So check the option "Boot Hard Disk" is checked and click Next.
A new window opens, click Next. This is to define the type of virtual hard disk image. A dynamic image size will fit your future needs so that a fixed image size will be limited to that which you assign. I advise you to choose a disk image size dynamics. Unless you do not already have a limited space and you do not want to see the virtual machine take too much space on your physical disk.

Click Next and then you must define the location and size of your virtual hard disk. Do not touch the site. Assign a size virtual hard disk, knowing that a minimum of 8Gb is required. For this tutorial, I decided to leave the default 8Gb.

Click Next and then you emerge on the summary of the configuration of your new virtual disk. Click Finish if you are happy to create the virtual hard disk.
You then arrive at the summary of the configuration of the virtual machine that you have set. If you are satisfied with the configuration, click finish.
Your virtual machine is then ready to welcome Backtrack. You've done the hardest! It only remains to install Backtrack 4 and voila.

In short, it is starting to backtrack liveCD on your virtual machine and to run the installer, which is on the desktop. Bring you then your DVD image of Backtrack, select your virtual machine and click on "Preferences".

You then go to the configuration of your virtual machine you can change many settings. Take to tune the performance of functions in your host system and the needs of your virtual machine, but we're not there yet. Go to the "System" tab and set the boot sequence.

Continue by going to the tab "Media" and specify the location of your DVD image of Backtrack. Confirm with OK

It is finally time to launch the virtual machine, oh joy!  To do this, select your machine freshly set and click Start.

The machine then boot on the DVD image. Accept the proposed resolution screen (1024x768) and further launch, it may take some time. When the command line appears, the system is launched, just type startx to launch the GUI.

Once the GUI started, click once on the only icon on the desktop "install.sh". The installation begins.

Choose your time zone, keyboard, etc. and confirm the default settings. Do not worry for your data, formatting only concerns the virtual hard disk created earlier. The installation process starts, you will have time to go to make coffee and eat a snack, gourmet breakfast as you are.

When installation is complete stop the virtual machine and "pull" the image of the DVD virtual drive, using the method to put it. That's where we'll see if you understand what you have done !!

Connect Two Computers Directly

Create your own LAN-Connect two computers

Why is it needed??

If we connect two computers, it forms a network. The main advantage of a network is "resource sharing".
We can share files and folders.
We can share printers.
We can play LAN games.

Here are the steps to connect two windows XP computers.

Things You Will Need:

1. A Crossover cabe – This is a Cat5 Ethernet Cable that the wires have been switched around to allow two computers to talk to each other.

2. Ethernet adapter or in simple terms the port on the back of your pc where you are going to insert this cable.
Steps:

1. Connect the two computers with the crossover cable.

2. Set the IP address on both computers. Goto Start > Control Panel > Network Connections ( Choose switch to classic view if you cannot see network connections ).
3. Look for your Local Area Connection ethernet adapter, right click and choose properties.
4. Select Internet Protocol TCP/IP and choose properties.
5. Set the IP as 192.168.1.1 and the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 on the first computer and 192.168.1.2 on the second with same subnet mask.
6. click OK and OK/Close again.

NOTE:
To share your files, right click on any folder or drive and choose sharing to make them shared.

This can also be done with printers to be able to print from one computer while the printer is connected to the other.

If you are using Windows 7 : The steps are similar, you can find your Local Area Connection in Network and sharing centre.

What is FTP

What is FTP-Know The Basics

What is FTP?

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard Internet protocol for transmitting files between computers on the Internet.
Like the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), which transfers displayable Web pages and related files, and the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), which transfers e-mail, FTP is an application protocol that uses the Internet's TCP(Transmission Control Protocol)/IP protocols.

Very briefly, FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is used to transfer programs or other information from one computer to another.
This simple tool will let you do many things: download software, upload your own web pages, transfer information between your home and work machines, and more.

FTP uses the port no 21 on your computer.

What is Anonymous FTP???

Anonymous FTP is used to download software from computers where you do not have your personal account.
If you are accessing internet from a local service provider, you may use anonymous FTP to get recommended software, help files, or other handy information.
Publicly available files are easily accessed using anonymous FTP.

Uses of  FTP:

As a user, you can use FTP with a simple command line interface (for example, from the Windows MS-DOS Prompt window) or with a commercial program that offers a graphical user interface.
Your Web browser can also make FTP requests to download programs you select from a Web page.
For example, If you've ever clicked on a link to download the newest version of your favorite web browser, then you may have already used anonymous FTP.
Downloading files with your web browser is certainly the easiest way to use FTP, although it does have its limitations.

When do you need a Separate FTP??

You need a seperate program for FTP, if you want to download all the files in a given directory. A good FTP client makes this much easier.
You will also need it for uploading and downloading files from your personal directory( while making your own webpage).

How does it help hackers??

Hackers can create their own FTP accounts to log the information of their victims secretly.
Remote installation keyloggers are the best example for this. The data stolen by the keyloggers will be sent to the hacker via FTP and email. FTP can carry large amount of data too.

All about IP address

I feel that the first and foremost thing to learn hacking is to know about IP address. So i am starting my hacking related posts with IP address.
In this post i have written all the basic concepts of IP addresses.
My next post will be on hacking IP address of a remote computer.
So before that lets have a glance at the basics of IP..

What is an IP address?
If a post man wants to deliver a letter to you, first he needs to know the address of your home. In the same way Computers on the Internet need to find one another in order to communicate. Each computer therefore has a unique identifying number known as an IP address.
Simply.. Every system connected to internet must have a unique address. This address is called IP address.
Every URL (say, “www.google.com”) has its own numbered Internet Protocol or IP address.
An IP address looks something like this:74.125.19.147
An IP address is a series of numbers that tells us where a particular device is on the Internet network.

Public IP address
A public IP address is assigned to every computer that connects to the Internet where each IP is unique. Hence there cannot exist two computers with the same public IP address all over the Internet. This addressing scheme makes it possible for the computers to “find each other” online and exchange information. User has no control over the IP address (public) that is assigned to the computer. The public IP address is assigned to the computer by the Internet Service Provider as soon as the computer is connected to the Internet gateway.

Public IP addresses can be divided into two types.
They are STATIC and DYNAMIC..

what is static IP?
A static IP address does not change and is used primarily for hosting webpages or services on the Internet.

Disadvantages of static configuration
This requires manual configuration of each and every computer.
Every time care must be taken that no two systems should have same IP.
This manual configuration has many problems when number of systems increase.

Dynamic IP
On the other hand a dynamic public IP address is chosen from a pool of available addresses and changes each time one connects to the Internet. Most Internet users will only have a dynamic IP assigned to their computer which goes off when the computer is disconnected from the Internet. Thus when it is re-connected it gets a new IP.
To do this Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) was developed.
A DHCP server is a software program that assigns IP addresses to computer dynamically.
Advantages
Administrators of large networks save hundreds of hours per year over manual configuration of computers.
No IP address conflict.
Users need not know about manual configuration.

Private IP address
An IP address is considered private if the IP number falls within one of the IP address ranges reserved for private networks such as a Local Area Network (LAN). The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) has reserved the following three blocks of the IP address space for private networks (local networks):

10.0.0.0 – 10.255.255.255 (Total Addresses: 16,777,216)
172.16.0.0 – 172.31.255.255 (Total Addresses: 1,048,576)
192.168.0.0 – 192.168.255.255 (Total Addresses: 65,536)

How to find your Private IP?
go to start->open RUN->type cmd. Then command prompt will be opened->type the command "ipconfig" without brackets.
The number that you see against “IPV4 Address:” is your private IP.

How to find your public IP?
You can check your public IP address by visiting www.whatismyip.com

The Hacker's Intro

Who is a hacker?

In computer security and everyday language, a hacker is someone who breaks into computers and computer networks.
A Hacker is a person who attacks on other's computers to spoil their system(generally).

Why do they hack?
Some people do hack to show their knowledge and skills. some people to take the revenge.

Types of hackers
There are different types of hackers according to different books and conventions. I divide these hackers into five types..

1.Black hat hackers:
A black hat hacker is someone who breaks computer security without authorization or uses technology (usually a computer, phone system or network) for vandalism, credit card fraud, identity theft, piracy, or other types of illegal activity.

2.white hat hackers

A white hat hacker breaks security for non-malicious reasons, for instance testing their own security system. This type of hacker enjoys learning and working with computer systems, and consequently gains a deeper understanding of the subject. Such people normally go on to use their hacking skills in legitimate ways, such as becoming security consultants.

3.Grey hat hackers
These are skilled hackers who act sometimes legally and sometimes not. These type of hackers have the shades of both white hat and black hat.

4.Script kiddy
These type of hackers are normally beginners. They use tools made my others for attacking on the victims.

5.Hacktivist
These type of hackers use their hacking skills for political reasons.
